PMEA Centre County Report

BELLEFONTE AREASCHOOLDISTRICT
Bellefonte has managed to continue all existing Fine Arts programs with 1 staff reduction due to retirement. Our new hire in the elementary band position is Christine Gossett. She is from Kentucky where she taught music for 11 years. Her husband is a doctoral candidate in music at PSU working with Joanne Rutkowski, I believe. The other change is Meredith LeRoy moved to the high school to replace Louise Victor and of course is managing wonderfully. The upside is we didn't lose any programs at the Middle School except for 7th grade general music classes. The down side is that John Zimmerman and Julie Renne at the Middle School had to pick up all of Meredith's course load between them so they are overwelmed right now.
BALD EAGLE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
We have no new staff, but some staff that changed assignments:

BEA is now 6-‐12 Grade in one building the Middle-‐High School.
Renovations are still not done.
PHILIPSBURG – OSCEOLA SCHOOL DISTRICT
-‐Since starting an Integrated Arts Program at Osceola Elementary last year, we have implemented our Integrated Arts Program at Philipsburg Elementary and North Lincoln Hill Elementary this year.
-‐We have restructured our elementary schools. We now have two K-‐4 buildings (Philipsburg Elementary and Osceola Elementary) and one 5-‐6 building (North Lincoln Hill).
-‐Teaching Assignment/Personnel Changes: Amy Jo Belko retired at the end of last school year. Katy Lessie is now teaching K-‐4 music at Philipsburg Elementary. Don Henry teaches K-‐4 music at Osceola Elementary. Val Stiner is now teaching 5-‐6 music at North Lincoln Hill. Sarah Zschunke now teaches Instrumental Music 7-‐12. Diana Krause teaches chorus and general music at the Junior High. Jenni Lazauskas teaches general and choral music at the Senior High.
